HPC Cluster sun

The high performace cluster sun is the main work tool of the research unit Dynamics of Complex Fluids and Interfaces. It consists of 24 computing nodes having 1280 single threaded processors and 1280GB RAM in total.

sun-01 – sun-08

  • 32G RAM
  • 2 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2680 v3 @ 2.50GHz with 12 cores of 2 threads each
  • 240GB SSD for scratch filesystem

sun-09 – sun-24

  • 64G RAM
  • 2 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2695 v3 @ 2.30GHz with 14 cores of 2 threads each
  • diskless

Infrastructure

There are two additinal machines providing infrastructure and services both to the cluster and the workstations in the offices.

fire – home directories

  • 120G RAM
  • 2 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2643 v3 @ 3.40GHz with 12 cores each
  • 22 × 480GB SSD providing 8TB filespace

dam – working directories

  • 256G RAM
  • 2 × Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-2697 v3 @ 2.60GHz with 14 cores each
  • 30 × 8TB HDD, 4 × 480GB SDD providing 134TB filespace
