Team Electrosynthesis
Head: Dr. Ioannis Katsounaros
Our goal is the efficient transformation of electrical to chemical energy by enabling selective conversions of cheap, ideally abundant molecules to value-added chemicals or fuels at electrified solid-liquid interfaces. We have created a unique platform for tracking reaction products at various scales, from short to long timescales, and from model to applied interfaces. For that purpose we combine:
- investigations with own-developed, internationally unique real-time product analytics to capture transient events that occur under dynamic conditions
- well-designed studies on classical electrochemical systems to understand fundamental structure-to-property relationships
- long-term investigations for quantifying and assessing the feasibility and durability of processes.
