About me

Gonçalo Antunes is a PhD student interested in the transport of fluids in catalytic microchannels / reactors. To this end, he employs analytical calculations as well as computer simulations.

Of particular interest to him is those flows driven by diffusioosmosis. These flows arise when a fluid mixture of inhomogeneous composition is in contact with a solid. When the solid is chemically reactive, it may itself sustain the chemical inhomogeneity around it.

The interplay of the solid geometry and these out-of-equilibrium flows may be exploited to produce devices such as self-propelled swimming colloids, or self-pumping microchannels.
