Research for listening: We’re launching our podcast “Bright Futures”
19. March 2026
Research on energy in audio format: With our new podcast, “Bright Futures,” we bring you the latest topics in an accessible, compact format close to research.

Listen to research instead of reading about it is now possible thanks to our new podcast. With “Bright Futures,” we show how our current research is shaping a sustainable future for everyone. The series starts with the episode “Strategic Global Photovoltaic Deployment.” It addresses the question of why solar installations are unevenly distributed worldwide: While expansion is progressing primarily in wealthy countries, the potential of sun-rich regions often remains unused. The episode examines the economic, climatic, and technical factors behind this development. At the same time, it demonstrates how targeted expansion in regions with high CO₂ emissions can contribute to reducing emissions and highlights the role of international cooperation and investment in this process.
The content of the first episode is based on a paper by Dr. Ian Marius Pieters and his research team titled “Strategic Global Deployment of Photovoltaic Technology: Balancing Economic Capacity and Decarbonization Potential”. The episode was created with the support of the AI tool NotebookLM, an approach we are using to explore new avenues of science communication. Additional episodes are already in the works, through which we will regularly provide insights into our research.
