Seasonal energy storage is a key component of a sustainable energy future.
Our goal is to make energy available efficiently, reliably, and economically over extended periods. Bridging the gap between laboratory research and real-world applications requires a deep understanding of the underlying electrochemical processes and their validation at the system level.
Research Topics
Our team combines experimental research with engineering implementation: we investigate electrochemical stacks under realistic conditions, scale up cell components for operation in the kilo- and megawatt range, and develop new concepts for economically and environmentally sustainable deployment. In doing so, we lay the foundation for technologies that can drive the energy transition forward.
