Background

SolarTAP is a joint project of the Helmholtz centers Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Within Solar TAP, these centers will link their world-leading infrastructures for the development of "multi-benefit" photovoltaics and make them accessible to members of an industrial network to jointly carry out research and development projects according to a roadmap developed within the network.

Solar TAP's novel collaboration model is expected to result in faster and more flexible processing of projects, and faster transfer of technologies from the laboratory to the market - along the entire value chain.

The project "Solar TAP - A Solar Technology Acceleration Platform for Multi-Benefit Photovoltaics" was selected as an innovation platform by the Helmholtz Association for funding from March 2023 and will be funded with 15.1 million euros for a 3-year set-up phase.
