Project COSIMA: Intelligent inspection from the air
Regional cooperation partners develop comprehensive analysis of photovoltaic systems
Photovoltaic systems are a very important factor for the energy turnaround. To ensure that they are still efficient after many years, they must be checked and maintained regularly. The aim of the COSIMA research project is an efficient and intelligent inspection that provides recommendations for action to ensure continued economic operation. The research project is coordinated by the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nuremberg. It is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy. Other partners from the Northern Bavaria region are involved.
Recognize the condition of PV modules with eagle eyes
The idea behind COSIMA: First of all, determine as accurate a picture as possible of the condition of individual PV modules. To do this, a drone automatically flies over the system and uses a high-performance camera to check its performance. The software used in this process delivers concrete and reliable recommendations. This innovative approach can be applied worldwide.
